Scenic routes galore
Moffat and its surrounds have some of the best roads whether you’re going for a drive or exploring by bike. Good line of sight, quiet with light traffic, spectacular scenery, plenty of pitstops to fuel up with food and drink… Wherever you’re heading, Moffat is the best base. Moffat is Europe’s first Dark Sky Town. Bring your telescope by all means but if you don’t have one, don’t worry. The sky is full of stars visible to the naked eye.
Fancy a tipple? Taste the Moffat whisky, a lowland blend using only single malts from across Scotland. Or visit the Annandale Distillery for a great day out. There’s also the Moffat Toffee whisky to add to your ‘research’.
There are so many opportunities for birdwatching. You may spot a golden eagle – yes, they’re here in Moffat, Scotland’s first Eagle Town – along with peregrines, buzzards, kestrels, sparrowhawks… Bring your binoculars.
Discover the rich heritage and quirky attractions of Moffat and its surrounds. Find Scotland’s shortest street with just one house or a stunning collection of land art in the middle of nowhere.
