At Queensberry House you can be sure of a warm welcome, local knowledge and the full Scottish breakfast. The famous Moffat walks are on the doorstep.

In our Victorian listed building with views of the Moffat hills, we offer comfortable accommodation in well-presented rooms with modern en-suite facilities. All our rooms are on the ground floor for ease of access.

…and breakfast

Kick-start your day with our cooked to order Scottish breakfast. Choose from bacon, sausage, black pudding, haggis, free-range eggs (any way you like), tattie scone, and luxury porridge with cream. Or keep it light with fruit salad and yoghurt or museli. Our breakfast buffet includes cereals, juices, toast, marmalade, jam, honey, proper coffee as strong as you like and all manner of teas (Scottish breakfast, rooibos, peppermint, camomile, green, Earl Grey, decaf…). We endeavour to use locally sourced produce as much as possible and can cater for most dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) – just let us know in advance.

Local knowledge – we have it in spades

What are the top attractions in Moffat? And how do you get to them? What is so special about the Devil’s Beef Tub and the Grey Mare’s Tail? We can point you in the right direction whether you’re looking for the most strenuous hike or the best chocolate brownie in town.

For your onward journey, we have maps and brochures for the wider area to help you plan your onward adventures. And we can fill your flask with coffee to keep you going. It’s all part of the service. We want to make your stay a memorable one.

Please do not hesitate to call us – Miles and Caroline – if you have any questions about Queensberry House, the outstanding conservation area of Moffat or its surrounds.

Location, location, location

Whether you’re heading for the Highlands, or breaking your journey on the John O’Groats to Land’s End trek or just need to get away from it all, Moffat is the ideal base to relax and discover this corner of southern Scotland in all its beauty.

Moffat is the perfect stopping-off point, just two miles from the A74(M) motorway, and Queensberry House is a five-minute walk from the centre of town. Take junction 15 from the M74 and follow the signs into Moffat. Carry on through the high street and take the right-hand fork (signposted Beechgrove) at the mini roundabout. Queensberry House is the 12th house on the right.

At your service: the Queensberry House hosts

We – Miles and Caroline – fell for Moffat the moment we set eyes on it and moved here like a shot from London. We love this area and have personally investigated almost every inch of it from its jaw-dropping scenery to its historic castles.

Caroline was a travel journalist in her previous life while Miles has been a builder. With her travel knowhow of the hotel scene and his ability to handle any maintenance crisis, they think they can cope with just about anything a B&B can throw at them.
